Stories of the Streets: Access All Areas

We’re pleased to announce that our event last week in partnership with National Theatre Wales TEAM and co-produced by our very own Blog Maestro Tom Wentworth was a huge success – here’s a round up.

I am delighted to have been able to co-produce with award winning playwright Kelly Jones, another of our successful New Writing events which this time focussed on making the writers pieces accessible to all. For this we asked each writer to incorporate an access requirement which was either BSL, captioning or Audio Description. These were then used as part of the performance in a creative way.

The event was held at the Angel Hotel and was very well attended by over a 100 people (not bad for a wet Thursday evening in January!) We had some super feedback from audience members who were impressed by the diversity and creativity of the pieces and performances from our talented cast.

As part of the process we also commissioned blogs from TEAM Panellist and theatre designer Diana Ford. You can find her very informative pieces about Day 1, Day 2 and the performance itself here alongside some terrific photographs.

The whole company worked wonderfully hard and should be incredibly proud of themselves.

Here’s to more accessible theatre and the next Stories of the Streets!
